🏊 Swimming. The free Sasplein open-air zone (see Top Pick) and LAGO Olympia Brugge (Olympialaan 2) are both excellent this week — LAGO's indoor and outdoor pools are open daily; hours at lago.be/brugge-olympia.
🚴 Cycling. Early July is a glorious time to cycle the flat, shaded Damse Vaart to Damme, or the canal route to Ostend. Hire bikes near the station and enjoy the long evenings — sunset is after 22:00.
⚽ Football: The Belgian Pro League season has finished, and both Club Brugge — champions of Belgium for the 20th time — and Cercle Brugge are now in pre-season, with the new campaign due to begin in late July. There are no competitive home fixtures at Jan Breydel this week, and pre-season friendlies at this stage are largely away or behind closed doors. Cactus Muziekcentrum is quiet this week as the team pours its energy into Cactusfestival (10–12 July) — but the terraces and screens keep the city humming.
Cactus Café — Summer Terrace. The Cactus Café (Bargeweg 10) keeps the summer spirit going with relaxed evenings and occasional free sessions; latest at cactusmusic.be.
📺 World Cup at Delaney's (Burg 8). The (now 32-team) World Cup rolls on across North America, and Delaney's Irish Bar shows the big matches on several large HD screens, with Belgian and Irish beers and pub food. The late kick-offs make for atmospheric warm-evening viewing. delaneys.be

A welcome return to gentler summer weather after last week's record-breaking heat. Expect pleasant highs of around 21–24°C through the week, with a mix of sunshine and cloud and the odd passing shower at the weekend. Nights are comfortable again at 13–15°C. Long days continue, with sunset after 22:00 — a light jacket for the evenings and an umbrella just in case are all you'll need.
