Taptoe Brugge 2025. “The taptoe signal is a trumpet signal that was originally played to end the day. Nowadays the taptoe signal is mainly used in Europe at military commemorations and funerals. A tattoo in the modern version is a musical show in which the various show bands present themselves to the public.

A tattoo is a musical spectacle, built up from light, sound and colour. Of course it is already beautiful to hear a band playing, but the audience is also visually oriented, and wants to see music above all. That is why it also has to be dressed up, preferably with many surprise effects. Some bands succeed in this in an astonishing way.

Following the English example, the tattoo has developed into a musical spectacle in which the participating bands give the best of themselves. The finale can be considered as the continuation of the original ceremonial tattoo. The tattoo was originally a purely military affair, but this is no longer the case. The performance of it by civilian bands has increased rapidly in recent years.

On Saturday 5 July 2025 we guarantee another wonderful evening with the absolute top show & marching bands from home & abroad. A more than 2 hour long whirling musical spectacle on the most beautiful historical square in Europe, namely the Burg van Brugge. The location, the groups and the cooperation of the Bruges carillon make this Taptoe Brugge unique in its kind. The largest outdoor Taptoe in Belgium welcomes you!”  Tickets: €30-150. 5 Jul, 20:00. Burg.
