🎪 Uitwijken Circus — free shows across the Brugge neighbourhoods, 18–22 July. Brugge Plus takes contemporary circus out of the venues and into the neighbourhoods, with two free touring shows and no ticket needed. Image by Duo NU is an acrobatic game in which ladders are never merely ladders — they become symbols of how we see one another, and where we find each other. Expect nervy leaps, chaotic rescues and moments of real tenderness as Lad and Tree teeter between chaos and control. Multitude by JHEB Company follows from Monday. Each show is preceded by Mili Gobbi, winner of Cirque Numerique at Cirque Plus, performing La Fille au Coeur Brisé — a moving, clownish solo about self-love where humour and tenderness go hand in hand. ⚽ The World Cup final is Sunday 19 July, 21:00, New York. Belgium's tournament ended in the quarter-final — a 2–1 defeat to Spain in Los Angeles this week, after a great run. The final between Spain and Argentina will be on at Delaney's and Het Pannenhuis (see Nightlife).
⚽ Club Brugge — Belgian champions for the 20th time — and Cercle Brugge are both in pre-season, with the new campaign due to begin in late July. No home fixtures at Jan Breydel this week. First confirmed home matches will be posted at clubbrugge.be and cerclebrugge.be.

🏊 Swimming — an important update. The free Sasplein swimming zone in the Langerei is closed under a temporary swimming ban, in force since 1 July, after blue-green algae were found in the water. The recent heatwave pushed the canal to 29.5°C, which triggered the bloom. The ban stays until the surface layer clears and tests confirm the water is safe again. The Damse Vaart zone is affected too. Avoid contact with the water; if you do touch it, shower thoroughly. Updates via the Sportdienst Brugge Facebook page and brugge.be. 🚴 Cycling. The flat, tree-lined Damse Vaart to Damme is ideal in this gentler weather — and the poplars give shade on the sunnier stretches.

Pleasant and much gentler than last week's festival heat. Thursday and Friday are warm and bright, reaching 21–25°C with long sunny spells. Saturday is the pick of the week — sunny, 22°C, ideal for the market, the circus and a rooftop dinner. Sunday turns cooler and showery at around 18°C, so the World Cup final is well timed for indoors. Monday stays unsettled at 19°C with a brisk wind, before things settle again midweek at around 20–21°C. Nights are comfortable at 13–15°C. Sunset is still after 21:45 — plenty of long evening light for those 19:30 circus shows. Latest forecast: meteo.be
