Antwerp Symphony orchestra: Schumann and Beethoven. Like Beethoven, hero of all Romantics, Robert Schumann wrote a series of symphonies and concertos for piano, violin, and cello. He penned both his Second Symphony and the Cello Concerto in just a few weeks. Marie-Elisabeth Hecker recently made a name for herself with her spirited recordings of Elgar, Schubert, and Brahms. And in this late Schumann masterpiece, she also gives free rein to her love of the Romantic concerto. Tickets: €13,50-45. 11 Oct, 20:00, Concertgebouw, ‘t Zand, 34.

Corps extrêmes. Between pure poetry and physical strength. What drives a person to take immense risks to defy gravity? As in the myth of Icarus – who wanted to get as close to the sun as possible – you can burn your wings and crash. Rachid Ouramdane takes up the challenge nevertheless, pushing the boundaries of the vertical together with a group of acrobatic dancers, a highliner and a climber. Corps extrêmes is a dizzying experience that brings together endurance, strength, courage and the fragility of the human body. (Last) tickets: €13,50-45. 16 Oct, 19:15. 🍻🎶 Bruges After Dark: Nightlife

Helena Casella is a Belgian-Brazilian composer and singer who grew up in a very musical family. Her organically flowing music combines in a very unique way different genres such as R&B, neo-soul, hip-hop, modern jazz and Brazilian rhythms. Thus Helena expresses her thoughts and daydreams, bringing personal and recognizable stories that unfailingly touch her audience. Her soft but intense voice is a real showstopper, which she prefers to have supported by the warm sounds of live instruments, without digital effects. The influences of the Brazilian classics she inherited from her family, her own musical exploration along the R&B of Jill Scott, Leela James and Solange and her jazz education at the Amsterdam Conservatory are clearly noticeable.

Helena, who lived in Bruges until she was seven but then moved to Ghent, released her debut album “Pit Of Impressions” earlier this year on W.E.R.F. Records. HUMO called the record “a dyke of a debut” and Knack Focus is also a fan. Helena Casella is coming to Cactus Café with her full live band. Tickets: €10,50-18. 14 Oct, 19:30. https://cactusmusic.be/EN/Concerts/Calendar/helena-casella
